He joined the company of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London in 1951. There he created roles in two Benjamin Britten operas, John Claggart in ''Billy Budd'' (1951), and Sir Walter Raleigh in ''Gloriana'' (1953). He was in the debut cast of William Walton's ''Troilus and Cressida'' in 1954. Dalberg was in the premiere cast of Michael Tippett's opera ''The Midsummer Marriage'' in 1955.〔Forbes, Elizabeth (2008). in L. Macy (ed.) ''The Grove Book of Opera Singers'', p. 106.
